Dealer inquiries

SILK AND STEAL
Luthiers Kenny Hill and Howard Klepper have both had guitars stolen by a man purporting to be a Jonathan Silk of Long Beach, California (the real Jonathan Silk is a former UCLA professor now living in the Netherlands). The thief requested guitars be shipped to him COD and paid for them with what later turned out to be counterfeit cashier’s checks. So beware of whom you’re shipping your guitar to, especially anyone named Silk, and if you have any information about these valuable one-of-a-kind instruments, contact Klepper or Hill.

TAYLOR COVERS DEALER FINANCING
In these tough financial times Taylor Guitars is helping its dealers offer customers 12 months of no-interest financing on qualifying models and covering 100 percent of the cost of the program. Models include all 300-series, acoustic 3 series and higher, solid-bodies, T5’s, T3’s, limited editions, and BTO models. The program ends May 31, 2009.

MARTIN 00C-16DBGTE
A new collaboration between Martin and Roland, the 00C-16DBGTE adds a Roland
AP-1 preamp that offers digital modeling, programmable seven-band EQ, a chromatic tuner, reverb, and other advanced functions to Martin’s Sitka spruce and mahogany 00 (the electronics package is also available on a 000 and dreadnought model). martinguitar.com

L.R. BAGGS VENUE
Performing guitarists of all stripes will be checking out L.R. Baggs’s new preamp/DI, the Venue, which continues in the tradition of the company’s popular Para Acoustic D.I. by adding transformer-coupled DI circuitry for ultraclean signal flow, a built-in chromatic tuner, and a pedal-operated boost function. lrbaggs.com
